Course Syllabus
- TITLE OF COURSE: CSB1701 - Web Animation Basics
- COURSE DESCRIPTION: One credit hour online course. This course is designed to give students the opportunity to learn the basics of creating graphics, animation and interactivity using Flash MX. Students will see how this program can be used to develop expressive, creative, and exciting Web sites. Students should have some knowledge of the Internet and e-mail.
Students must have access to a computer with Windows 2000 or above, Flash MX 2004 (full or trial version), Internet access and e-mail account. For each unit of
credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and
two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.
- PROGRAM AND/OR DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT:
The CIS Program will provide superior learning opportunities in the area of information technology, utilizing state-of-the-art technology, for both CIS majors and non CIS majors to enable all students to achieve their career and/or educational goals.

- SCCC/ATS OUTCOMES: Students who successfully complete this course will demonstrate the ability to do the following SCCC/ATS Outcomes:
- Outcome #1 – Read with comprehension, be critical of what they read, and apply knowledge gained to real life situations.
- Outcome # 5 – Demonstrate the ability to think critically by gathering facts, generating insights, analyzing data, and evaluating information.
- Outcome # 6 - Utilize current technology relevant to their respective disciplines.
- Outcome #9 – Exhibit workplace skills that include respect for others, teamwork competence, attendance/punctuality, decision making, conflict resolution, truthfulness/honesty, positive attitude, judgment, and responsibility.
- COURSE OUTCOMES: Upon completion of the Web Animation Basics course with 80% or higher mastery of course competencies, the student should be able to:
- Identify the main components of the Flash MX program
- Identify the uses of a Web animation program
- Demonstrate ability to create graphics, animation, and interactivity for Web sites using Flash

- Animation with Motion Tweening
- INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS: The course will be delivered to students in an online interactive format via the Internet. Students will be able to read lectures online, ask questions of the instructor via e-mail, and complete textbook lessons, exercises, and exams in the convenience of their own home or office.
- Time Requirements
- Students should expect to spend a minimum of 15 hours to complete the course assignments.
- A time log will be mandatory for this course. Keep record of all time spent for each unit.
- Instructors will enforce the Academic Honor Code & Cheating Policy as set forth in the SCCC/ATS College Catalog. Students who fail to adhere to this policy will receive an F for the course final grade unless otherwise stated in the instructor’s course policies.

- SCCC/ATS Outcomes #1, 5, 6, and 9 will be assessed by a variety of assignments and projects.
